So, KD tells this story about his days in OKC with Perk. Kendrick would go up to a young fella that might be feeling himself a bit from a successful night out. Going on and on about a conquest, Perk would put the young buck in his place and tell him, “Jerry West got you that chick.”
The youngin would look puzzled, not quite sure what an old geezer had to do with him slapping cheeks the night prior. Kendrick would then point to the logo on his jersey, Jerry West, The Logo that he wears day in day out was the reason Bambi left with him for horizontal pastures.
I think Jerry West heard the interview and, with no animosity towards Kevin for sharing the Perk analogy, it got him thinking. Do I want to be synonymous with this kind of extra curricular activity?
I am sure that it has always come with tremendous pride to be the silhouette of the league, the dude a legend. But, as a league elder, I think it does not rub him the right way and was the catalyst to him offering Silver the opportunity to modernize the badge.
I cannot imagine the league finding a better ambassador then West, nor any logo looking as swaggy. The Jordan logo? The Dirk one legger? Shaq dunking with both legs raised? All of those iconic, but synonymous with only one player. Jerry, although very much Jerry, could be any aspiring hooper.
If it does come to fruition, my most certainly biased vote would go for a follow through holding, mouth guard dangling Wardell Stephen Curry. Second would be Klay, shoulders scientifically squared, elbow in, a true silhouette of the perfect jump shot.
